Totara Perform | CPL Concordia

CPL Concordia is a leading Italian cooperative company specializing in the design, implementation, and management of energy systems. With 125 years of experience, it currently employs over 1,600 people across 10 locations nationwide.

The company fosters innovation while maintaining a strong focus on sustainability in all its dimensions: economic, social, and environmental.

Over the years, CPL has recognized the need for a training tool that enables a timely and effective assessment of the skills of its internal resources.

The challenge

CPL Concordia needed to define a set of company roles, each with its own Job Description, to which a variable number of skills could be associated.

Additionally, it was necessary to obtain a series of skill assessments for its employees, taking into account different weightings based on the roles they held within the company.

These roles were then to be organized within the company’s “Business Units.”

Everything then had to be viewed and refined for reporting purposes by the HR department.

The Solution

CPL Concordia has chosen Totara Perform to manage the skills of its resources in the most flexible, precise and effective way possible.

MediaTouch developed a comprehensive, highly customized skills management, monitoring and reporting system for this project.

Building on the roles and skills framework established by CPL Concordia, which was initially managed through cumbersome and time-consuming Excel sheets, MediaTouch created the CPL Suite, a new skills assessment system.

The CPL evaluation system, integrated with the Totara Learn Learning Management System, enables the analytical and detailed management of skills through two levels of evaluation:

  • Personal evaluation (self-assessment)
  • Direct manager evaluation

Additionally, the HR supervisor plays a key role by presenting the results and facilitating their analysis.

The Results

The key outcomes of the project were the creation of:

  • a massive tool for uploading user data in terms of:
    • role being evaluated
    • minimum expected value
    • priority level
  • the automatic creation, sending notifications, of Perform Appraisal activity sheets for performance evaluation with:
    • user self-assessment
    • direct manager evaluation
    • overall verification by the HR Manager
  • the automatic generation of reports upon completion of the Appraisal activities in:
    • excel format reports, for analysis and insights by the HR manager
    • pdf reports with calculated skill scores based on the criteria defined during the preliminary analysis.

Additionally, special attention was given to the PDF report generated for each user following the self-assessment phase and the evaluation provided by their manager.

The report is visually designed with color graphics to present all the necessary information for archiving. It is divided into different sections, each structured to highlight, through graphical indicators, a summary of the skills that can be improved and the user’s strengths.

The report logic compares:

  • the Manager’s evaluation with the company standard
  • The employee’s self-assessment with that of the Manager

This allows the user to view, at a glance, their self-assessments in relation to those requested and provided by their manager.

As a result, the report offers a meaningful opportunity to compare and enhance one’s skills within the company, providing the employee with a genuine chance for both professional and personal growth and development.
